Route day 9-2

History

Jetty

Here you may read a tad of history. Who wants to read it might enlarge the picture with a right click (like it is possible at all other fotos) and read it complete.

My bold statement was left now that I would take a bath in the polar sea. I had really good luck that the weather played with me. No wind, blue sky and brilliant sunshine. I only had to find an appropriate location to get into the water.

At the end ot the road

The road carried on a few hundred meters more. At the end I found what I was looking for. Also at that place I was spoiled with a beautiful sight.

So off into the water with optimal conditions. The sea was clear to the ground, a mid-size tortoise as big as 2 palms of the hand at once near the shore in the water showered away; but it was really cold! And it was madly refreshing because I was all day tight packed in my warm motorbike suits.

I also thought I was alone. Okay, there came to motorbikes which looked like military and drove up the hill. There must have been a military post; sure, frontier, it seems to be ordinary. That all was out of my thinking until a man came along. He was 'conspicuously inconspicuously' with a big reflex camera and scuttled on the jetty. Then he looked exerted out to the sea and made some photos - well, that should look like that.

From now on I was aware that nothing would ever happen against me at this point :-) and also that my photos of myself will not be the only at this place. The hell you are in lonelyness and wilderness; but most of the tourists won't drive to this end.

Who likes to know now follows my 'evidence video' bathing in the polar sea. And I can imagine to do it once again.

After my bath I savoured the warm sun for a time and drove back to the main street. Here you'll find some impressions of this way.

Now the direction had to be to Kirkenes. I had a meal and refueld the BMW. For me it was attractive in no way to take photos in this town. The weather was swaying, the sky filled up with clouds. Later on it got better again. This evening there were some more lovely impressions.

Finally I got a nice sight far to the mountains - a sight to what the following days might bring.

Far sight

To get an overnight stay I decided to the first hut where I came along. It was a simple hut in Skiippagurra. After 500km (310 miles) I only wanted to get a shower and to go into bed.
