A little bi of history of driving motorbikes

Driving a two-wheeler was one of my great passions. It started with driving bicycle but to sit on it and not to kick the pedals while driving through the landscapes that was a small dream. In 2019 I scanned the last slides of my father and look there I found pictures with me sitting on a motorbike.

1965 Uwe auf MZ ES300The first time I sat on a motorbike was at the age of 2 in 1965. That was at a visit of our relatives in Luckenwalde near Berlin. I really don't remember that. This bike must be a  MZ ES300 which has this markedly mudguard in the front. Building year should be between 1963 and 1965.

Uwe 1973 auf Honda CB175 My next adventure I have had in 1973 in England visiting my Cousin Nigel. I was allowed to ride along on his Honda CB 175 in Hurst Green near Oxted, Surrey, England, nearly a quarter of a mile.

When I was graduated my drivers licence for motorbikes I really have dreamt I would be already driving.

In actual fact I was driving on a 50ccm Kreidler Florett of a friend of mine thank of my drivers licence for cars. I was not allowed to make the motorbike licence. So that had to wait. And this is pretty stupid when some friends came to the vocational school with their Yamaha XT500 or with the newest Kawasaki 1000ccm.

A friend of mine has been driven the Zündapp KS125 in 1987 Zündapp KS125 at that time. Who doesn't know: this is a 2-stroke-engine bike with mixed lubrication so if you're driving downhill you have to disengage the clutch or repeatedly accelerate because to upheld the lubrication of the system. To forget this will be deadly for the piston and the running surface of the cylinder.

Why do I write this? Because it happened as so. My friend induced a what we call 'Kolbenfresser' and later on it was seen that the piston and the surface were damaged. The piston ring was burst. Who wants to know there is only on piston in this engine.

This was nearly the end for this beautiful motorbike! My friend has got a very new Motoguzzi 350ccm short time after.

But there was a time later when it went on with the Zündapp KS125 and you can read it here.
