The Kemijoki turned out as a beautiful river on whose shores every Finish inhabitant wanted to have a house. Carrying on upwards there is a dam and a water power station. This fits well into the landscape. Before the river is damed up and the impression of a silent lake landscape is created.

Now to find a quiet place wasn't easy. In Scandinavia you have the right of public access for everyone to stay everywhere for one night. However some rules should always be received attention. There should be no sight from the next houses at a minimum of 200m (220 yards). Also you shouldn't be seen from the street. You may ask if you have doubts. Important is to take all the waste with you (but this should be everywhere). So there are uncountable possibilities in small crowded countries - but evidently not here at this river.

Sleeping place at river KemijokiFinally I came to a hidden location where the inhabitants obvious like to make a campfire. It was very warm so I didn't need a tent and layed down a mat and the sleeping bag above. The mosquitos also discovered this place. I got into the sleeping bag and sealed up everything. My dear wife bought this winter sleeping bag with which you may lay outside down to the freezing temperature. So it was a 'hot' night.

After a time it was possible to get some sleep with a towel above the head and only the nose was free. About 3 a. m. the beasts went away and I could get fresh air.
